Got my 100 pushups

After hearing about EJ's awesome pushup achievement, I thought I'd give it a go last night since it was my cardio night anyway. Was funny coz I thought I wouldn't make it when I got to about 50, but despite my arms being flush with blood I managed 100. So that's out of the way. I probably should vid myself doing these as a sort of souvenir for when I'm older. haha!

I paced myself though

I made 100 (consecutive) burpees yesterday morning. I paced myself though, and I was sooo tired. But I made it. When I got to 90 and I had the same feeling I had before when doing 90 pressups, and I thought, I've come this far, why ruin it by stopping short? And I made it. It's a weird feeling, now that I've broken the hundred. Kind of like the feeling when I first got my zhuanti (butterfly spin), like, hey, it wasn't that hard!

10 more to go

I had a go at doing pressups again last night (I actually don't train pressups much, just dips). I managed 90, but it was strange. It was more a psychological stop, rather than physical. It wasn't like I tried 91 and couldn't. It's sad, I know. But I remember my thought process a the time vaguely hinting at something like "no, I can't possibly do 100, it's too soon!" sort of thing. It was interesting for me though. At least I got the 90 out of the way, my next stop now is 100 Smiling

My Hi-scores

So a group of us have started a 100-day challenge. That is, it's just under 100 days to the end of the year, and there are 10 exercises to try to get to 100 for. The exact exercises vary from person to person though.

My current scores are:
1. 100 正踢腿 (dynamic kicks) - easy peas, been doing them for yonks.
2. 100 burpess - 80
3. 100 pushups - 80
4. 100 v-sits - 50
5. 100s horse-stance - can do at least 2 minutes so I can ignore this one too
6. 100 pullups - 21
7. 100 eagle (deep-squat) jumps - unknown
8. 100s handstand - unknown
9. 100" touch jump - unknown

Struggled

8 sets x (12 burpees + 12 starjumps) is pretty hard. Last time I couldn't do them properly, but this time I made it! Maybe it's the amount of food I had today... bucket loads. Well tonnes of fat and carbs, such as peking duck, mmmmm. hmm, why not beijing duck?
So I read that Michael Phelps eats 10,000 calories a day! Whoa. That's like over 3x the recommended average for guy. Monster!
Anyway, I'm starting to develop a liking to this burpees thing.

Sweet water

Man, so about a year ago I posted on my msn space that after a workout I drank milk and it tasted sweet. This time it happened with water! I guess training first thing in the morning before brekkie can be an alternative to miracle fruit!
I wonder if it will make disgusting molasses taste good.

Anyway, 12 burpees by 12 starjumps x 8 is pretty hard. At some points I ended up just lifting my arms to keep time Sticking out tongue
I also took a measure of my body fat and weight:
68.1kg, 17% fat, 16/08/08

looking back on my past records in my msn blog, 17% means I'm pretty chubby Sticking out tongue

Tabata Burpees 2

So it's nearing spring when the excess fat I have will start becoming unnecessary.
I finally got around to doing burpees with tabata intervals last night.

I've finally timed myself and 12/12 is just about right for 20s burpees and 10s starjumps.

I first tried 13 burpees and 10 star jumps, that took me about 2:08 minutes for 4 sets (I was knackered after 4. Yes!)

Tabata burpees

I was thinking about applying the Tabata protocol to burpees. This would give me another way to train burpees, and thus another way to train cardio indoors when the weather is bad (as it has been lately).

Tabata is essentially interval training with a 2:1 active/rest ratio. According to internet sources, the numbers used by Tabata's experiment were 20s:10s.

Sore legs

Legs are sore. I had a go at doing 210 burpees on Saturday. It's that pyramid thing, starting with 20 burpees, rest, 19... all the way to 1.
At first i took about 60s break in between stretching, then I got bored of that and did 30s break, only roughly coz i was counting breaths. Then I was so sick of stretching I just walked to each end of the room between sets.

To tell the truth, it wasn't hard at all. I really recommend people in wulin zhongji to try it.
The only drawback is my quads, glutes, and inner thighs are still sore 2 days after it. Though I did do some jumping on Friday.

My Goal

New year's resolution?
ha!
well, maybe
actually, are new year resolutions supposed to be completed before the new year, or set for the new year?
aaah doesn't matter anyway.

I'm still trying to cut up, as per my msn blogs. I'm also trying to get wings like bruce lee. I have to get myself a pullup bar!

So i'd started skipping in the mornings. ha! it's tough, for me anyway. i hate getting up in the mornings. i think what i have to do though is not sleep so late. that's my immediate goal for the week. that way i won't miss any days like i did today Sad
