Winter is over, no better time to get out & enjoy the return to dry weather.
With a record 27 days straight of rain, it’s wonderful to expel the early symptoms of cabin fever. Spring is upon us, & with spring comes daylight savings, which in NZ starts 28th September to 5th April- where we spring forward an hour, to give us more time in the day for us to capitalize on.
We also start spring cleaning, where everything gets a thorough cleaning. Taken out of place, polished, vacuumed, scrubbed, & placed back, to be prepared for another year of maintenance.
What a perfect time to start a new exercise regime! Take your life off the shelf, & start polishing your reflexes, scrub your arteries, & start the New Years resolution that you always fail to resolve. This gives you 3 months to prepare for summer. The time you love to go out & enjoy the beach, & city night life!
That’s 3 months to develop a habit of taking care of your self, appreciating the fantastic machine that you are, & using it’s ability as far as it will allow you to.

Why wait for the New Year? Why start a new years resolution of an exercise regime, when you’ll only feel uncomfortable with yourself & progress with everyone else stripped down to bikinis & shorts? Why wait till summer when your social calendar is going to rationalize your personal time?
Get a friend, both commit to one another, start preparing for a summer you won’t forget & start a new life now. Right now! You’ve spent too much time not appreciating your body & its abilities. Don’t believe me? Try this exercise…

The average Male dies at 65, & the average female at 75.
The average human spends 8 hours sleeping.
8 hours is 1/3 of 24 hours in a day.
Therefore you spend 1/3 of your life in bed.
This would mean the average male spends 21-22 years sleeping & the average Female 25 years asleep. (This doesn’t count for quality of sleep either)
Now compare your age to these sleep times…are you still asleep? Are you just waking? Have you been awake for 5 years?

What are you going to do today to appreciate the fact that you can get out of bed? That you don’t need assistance to go to the toilet with a full bladder, yet alone hold a full bladder! What are you going to do today to appreciate the gift of sight, hearing, & even touch?!
Start the day with a smile, knowing you woke up. Hug your mum, dad, wife or husband because you can. Eat a healthier breakfast because your intestines haven’t stopped working, & really would appreciate it if you could. Take your dog for a play instead of just a run. Groom your cat & play with it. Smile, because people can see you’re thankful to be able to show them. Now go do some exercise, & put your bones under stress to help calcify them, & pump your muscles because they desire enrichment. Do it any way you can, be it in a gym, at a beach, in your back yard, in your friend’s garage. Try something new! Simply because you can! The ability to learn & have motor skills to apply is a gift that millions around the world envy you for. Just having the freedom to choose is a luxury in itself. Maybe a new life skill, like swimming, running, martial arts, orienteering. There’s a world out there, & it’s ours to enjoy, instead of staying inside where we think we’re safe.

Let me know what you’ve started doing! Maybe you could inspire one of the team to try something new. We’re going to open the forums to the public, so that we can chat to you, & you don’t need to be a Wu Shu or martial artist to chat with us. We’re all under the same sun, so let’s enjoy the conversation…simply because we can.
Looking forward to springing forward, & hearing what you’ve started in order to celebrate your body.
Train hard, live well
